Doing business in Italy can be quite a challenge for companies, because of the language barrier and the rules that apply. To give you a few examples of the most important differences with the United Kingdom.
The registration as an employer in Italy is complex and therefore takes a long time in practice. Certain documents even have to be supplied with an apostille from the court! As was previously the case with France, no wage tax is deducted in Italy. Be careful when negotiating with the employee about the amount of net salary: this has a completely different meaning for him or her.
Finally, as in France, there are many, many government bodies involved in employment. Every month, different amounts need to be transferred to different bank accounts. In combination with the fact that most agencies have a limited number of employees that speak some English, this makes hiring and remunerating an employee in Italy a complex process. But it's certainly not impossible!
